About the Movie

"Free Solo" is a documentary film directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. It follows professional rock climber Alex Honnold as he attempts to climb the 3,000-foot vertical rock face of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park without ropes or safety gear, a style known as "free soloing." The film explores Honnold's preparation, mindset, and the risks involved in his daring endeavor, while also delving into his personal life and motivations. "Free Solo" is a gripping and visually stunning portrayal of human achievement and the pursuit of excellence in the face of extreme challenge.
