International Dark Sky Week is a global celebration of the night, and you're invited!

From the darkness needed for a restful night’s sleep to the activities we enjoy beneath the stars, the night plays a crucial role in protecting healthy wildlife ecosystems, advancing science and exploration, preserving cultural knowledge, and much more. Yet, with the rapid rise of light pollution, we risk losing the natural night we rely on alongside our view of the stars.

This International Dark Sky Week, we invite you to join in the fun by taking meaningful actions to protect the night. Whether you're taking our home lighting assessment, signing the DarkSky pledge, or submitting a proclamation in your community, we are here to support and guide you! Check our suggested actions below.

"I pledge to protect the night by following the Five Principles for Responsible Outdoor Lighting, using lights only when and where I need them, and learning more about the impacts of artificial light on wildlife, habitats, and my community."
